The images below are taken in the Letterpress Room at London College of Communication, formerly the London College of Printing. It is the same equipment that has been used for over 100 years to produce stunning Graphics and Text (ironically the look and feel of which is highly fashionable right now) and it still doesn’t require a system upgrade, extra memory; hasn’t crashed and doesn’t need a three year warranty. Saved from the skip by concerned print tutors a few years ago it still serves hundreds of students who, although there is no longer any official training in Type Compositing as a trade, are excited by the possibilities of modern Graphic and Art processes using this traditional equipment.
